If your washer isn’t spinning or draining, take the following steps:
- Check the laundry load. Distribute it evenly and ensure the lid is properly closed.
- Keep the washer level and ensure there’s enough water in the tub for the size of the load to avoid imbalance.
- Make sure the power cord is plugged into a working electrical outlet.
- Check the circuit breaker or fuse in the fuse box and reset or replace it if needed.
- Inspect the drain hose for kinks or bends, and check the drain system for any blockages that might obstruct water flow.
- Close the lid and pull the knob (if applicable) to restart the cycle.
- Excessive foam can block drainage. If this happens, rinse the clothes again with plain water. Next time, use the correct amount of low-foam detergent.
- A faulty lid switch may stop the washer from spinning. This safety feature prevents operation when the lid is open, so it will need to be repaired or replaced if it isn’t working properly.
