Mar 14, 20260:02: The United Nations Fellowship, I got it because I just randomly DM'd a lady whose work I admired
0:09:, and with the friendship I built, she gave me an opportunity to work with the UN.
0:13: And who in their sane mind would think that, okay, let me just do this.
0:19: Today we are joined by a young dynamic leader who's redefining entrepreneurship through
0:24: the lens of purpose and equity.
0:26: She is the founding member of Radically Yours, a next-gen knowledge platform connecting
0:31: founders to global capital and creating pathways for women in enterprise.
0:37: At just 26, she's been recognised as one of India's top voices on LinkedIn and a next-gen
0:43: India fellow for the United Nations Foundation.
0:46: She's helping shape conversations around the future of work, entrepreneurship and inclusion.
0:53: Welcome to Be All You Can, Radhika.
0:55: Thank you.
0:56: I hope I can be all by myself in this podcast, as the tagline goes.
1:02: At Be All You Can, we explore a lot of conversations that inspire purpose, courage and impact.
1:09: Your journey has definitely been a powerful example of that.
1:13: So I would like to dive right in and ask you the first question, that is, if you had to
1:18: Describe your life's purpose in one sentence. What would it be?
1:25: Curiosity combined with conversations.
1:28: I think this is something that has led me to whatever I've done so far in life.
1:34: I have always been a person who has been referred to, like Paresh Rawal in a movie where he's
1:40: called like a question mark, like people say that you should put a question mark and not
1:44: a bindi on your forehead because you're always like asking too many questions.
1:49: Ah, okay.
1:49: That's a good thing.
1:50: Yeah, it's a good thing.
1:51: Earlier, I used to be like, what is this that people are saying now in hindsight, I feel
1:55: like, okay, it's a unique compliment that no one ever gets, but I did.
1:59: So yeah, I think the questions have led me to seek answers which I would have never gotten
2:04: otherwise.
2:05: And that's how all of my journey, which is being either writing on LinkedIn, getting
2:08: this United Nations Fellowship, or even now today doing this podcast with you.
2:13: It's always been there because of the questions I asked, like I reached out to you to get an
2:18: interview with one of your senior management leaders and now we are here doing this podcast.
2:23: So I really feel that you need to stir up the conversations to lead it into something
2:27: else.
2:28: Even though you're talented, but you're sitting still, nothing happens in stagnant waters,
2:33: you know, you need to create the ripples for something to happen and for the flow to be created.
2:38: So yeah.
2:38: Yeah, I think most often we just get stuck on the first step, right?
2:42: Like we just don't reach out.
2:43: If you reach out and the rest just takes shape.
2:46: Exactly.
2:47: But in all of this, and I'm sure your, you know, whatever you've done till now has led
2:53: from your purpose.
2:55: So how does Radically Yours fit into this?
2:59: So I always, you know, didn't have many female role models to look up to.
3:04: I come from a small town called Pachora.
3:07: Not many even know about it, it's in Maharashtra only, nine hours from Bombay.
3:12: And there, studying in a municipal school, where teachers themselves didn't know English,
3:18: and I was discouraged to speak in English by my peers, because they were saying that, why
3:22: are you trying to show off?
3:23: You know, coming from that background, I was like, where do I really look up to people if
3:27: I have to?
3:28: And I was always very ambitious in the fact that I wanted to create a name for myself
3:32: in what industry that was yet to be explored, but very keen on making a mark in my life.
3:39: And when I used to search on the internet about who are the women leaders, whose journeys
3:44: I should follow, although I would get the names of the people, but how did they get
3:48: to that position that the media never spoke, they only spoke about the numbers that their
3:52: businesses are making, and what the competition looks like.
3:56: So I always had this thing in my heart that I want to create a presence where I attract
4:01: people to tell their stories to me.
4:03: So when I used to reach out to people to get to know their stories, nobody really paid
attention to me.
4:09: And they were like, why should we spend our time with you?
4:12: Like, who are you?
4:13: Because nobody likes to speak unless there is a camera put in front of them, and they
4:17: know they're going to reach multiple people.
4:20: You know, yeah, it's like they should be like, our time, if we're dedicating this one hour
4:24: to someone, it should also be heard by many people.
4:27: It should not just be one who's hearing it.
4:30: So yeah, I was like, I need to create an online presence now, which will help me get these
4:35: people to talk about their stories.
4:38: That's how I started writing on LinkedIn.
4:40: And I always wanted to create a presence where people would be happy to come and tell their
4:46: stories and journeys to me because I want to really learn from them, till date I want to.
4:51: So yeah, that was the purpose in my heart.
4:53: And that fire kept me going always that how do I make sure that I reach to a level where
4:57: whoever I want, I can reach out to, and they will reply with a yes to me.
5:02: So, you know, with that fire in the belly, I still keep going because I think the world
5:06: is such a huge place.
5:08: And there is always someone bigger than the other.
5:10: So I never feel satisfied, even though I've had a big interview with someone on my show,
5:14: I always feel like, okay, who's the next one who I can sit down and learn from?
5:19: So that was my purpose.
5:20: So I think you need to learn more that growth mindset is what's kept you going, right?
5:25: Yeah, yeah.
5:26: How do you achieve so much?
5:27: But I still want to know that just one moment, you know, or highlight that where you felt,
5:33: you know what, let's just build this.
5:35: Do you remember that one moment that would have defined it?
5:40: Yeah, I think I had written to someone in media.
5:44: I always wanted to work in media, because that was my passion.
5:50: And the managing director there didn't respond to me.
5:53: I was like, I've written to you with the exact purpose why I want to work with you and how
5:58: will I do it?
5:59: But she didn't respond.
6:00: And one day she didn't respond, but she put me in touch with our HR who didn't know anything
6:04: about how she can help me, but just because of the formality and because I was knocking
6:09: on her door constantly, she's like, let's give her a meeting.
6:12: So they did call me to their office in BKC.
6:14: I feel you don't have to be invited somewhere to go and explore.
6:21: You can self invite yourself, you know, like, I really feel that you have to have that
mindset.
6:27: And the president of Canada was visiting India.
6:32: So I went there early, talked to everybody in their media team, in their high commission
6:37: team that I really want to, you know, go interact with luminaries that are present because I have a show, I have a presence on LinkedIn, it's beneficial for me.
6:47: And like, they made me wait for half an hour, but they were eventually like, you can come
6:51: and attend our event.
6:53: And that's how I got to see the president speak and also meet some of the really interesting
6:58: people from ecosystem, which I would have never met.
7:01: And they would have never replied to me on an email because these are like really one
7:04: on one people.
7:05: And they talk to you if they have the trust and if you have the access to them.
7:09: So I was just thanking my stars that thank God I took that bold decision to turn my car
7:14: back and go to the hotel and just randomly self invite myself to an event like this.
7:20: And now the high commission has my details and they will definitely invite me to the
7:25: next ones also.
7:26: So that's like a story which I have to tell to all the youngsters that take that leap
7:30: of faith, even though nobody is having the confidence in you to do something, have the
7:34: confidence in yourself that you can pull it off.
7:37: The opportunities to live that life in a meaningful way can be endless.
7:41: So that's a very important learning.
7:43: And then the other thing would be like, just be open to learning from everywhere.
7:50: We sometimes we shut our minds, you know, the United Nations Fellowship, I got it because
7:56: I just randomly DM a lady whose work I admired and the friendship I built, she gave me an
8:02: opportunity to work with the UN.
8:04: So and who in their sane mind would think that okay, let me just do this.
8:08: I actually have a dedicated three hour window in everyday schedule, where I'm talking
8:12: to random people and messaging them. 8:14: Oh, wow.
8:14: Yeah, I do that every single day.
8:17: Because everything that I get, be it the guest on my show, or the opportunity to speak, or
8:23: even get to learn anything, it's all through these people who have randomly
connected.
8:27: Like I don't wait for the right opportunities to come at my doorstep and then get into it.
8:32: I actually believe in creating opportunities.
8:35: You know, the larger you create the surface area for the luck to hit you, only then you
8:40: will experience magic.
8:41: If you're not willing to experience how will the universe even conspire for it to happen
8:47: to you.
8:48: So that's my ultimate learning.
8:50: Very inspiring.
8:52: Yes.
8:52: No, this is, I mean, you actually have your day planned and you have this three hour window.
8:56: Yeah, I do that.
8:57: On Instagram, I see.
8:59: So it's a very interesting thing that I'll close this with.
9:03: So you know, these makeup artists who go to fancy weddings, and they tag everyone because
9:10: that's their job.
9:11: You know, tag the bride and the groom also.
9:14: So whoever the famous makeup artist is, I go to their pages sometimes, see who's this
9:19: person who's having this big fat Indian wedding.
9:22: And recently I connected with someone from that Hazuri Lal Jewellers, they have this legacy
9:28: of jewellery business.
9:29: And I just wrote to them saying that congrats on your wedding, love the work you've been
9:33: doing.
9:34: Let's catch up sometime.
9:35: And she responded saying that, yeah, let's catch up at our store in Bombay, would love
9:39: to see you there.
9:41: So now you never know that how this connection will help in some way or the other.
9:45: So yeah, I just go to these random pages of people who are connected to these high level
9:50: personalities through their work, and find them and talk to them.
9:55: It's just very unique, you know, how I find them, but not many people can think like this,
10:00: you know, I don't I don't think so anyone will do this, who is a sane person.
10:03: This makeup artist channel is really unique.
10:08: I feel you have to be insanely delusional to do something in life.
10:14: That's like the biggest takeaway.
10:15: Like I get got this minister Aditi Tatkare.
10:18: She's in the cabinet of Maharashtra, she's the Minister of Women and Child Development.
10:22: I gate crashed an event actually just to talk to her because I was, I got to know that she's
10:27: speaking at an event, and I have to be at this event anyhow, because she won't respond to my calls and messages.
10:34: I have to be in person telling her face-to-face with the eye contact that you have to come on my show.
10:38: So whenever her speech was done, and she was surrounded by so many people, I somehow went
10:43: in there and told her that, you know, you have to be on my show, just help me connect
10:46: with your PA right away.
10:47: And being in that, you know, chaos, you don't think twice, you're like, okay, she would
10:52: be a good journalist.
10:53: So she connected me to the PA and then I had my ways to convince the PA that it's a big
10:57: show this that.
10:58: So did you end up?
10:58: Yeah, I ended up interviewing her then.
11:00: So yeah, that's how I create opportunities for me.
11:03: I don't like wait, okay, somebody big will, you know, introduce me, then it'll happen.
11:08: I'm like, nahi ho raha hai toh khud se create kar leti hoon, kya hai usse?
11:12: It's been an absolute delight to have you on our podcast, Radhika.
11:16: Thank you so much.
11:17: It was really inspiring.
11:18: Thanks to you for bringing out these stories from me.
11:21: I feel it's always the person who's asking the right questions that gets the content
out.
11:26: Otherwise, though, we're just normal human beings walking around.
11:30: Thanks a lot.
11:31: The journey that you shared with us has been a really powerful reminder for us to stay
11:36: put on our purpose, on the impact that we want to create, you know, you just all got
11:43: just one life.
11:44: So I think it really helped us with that.
11:48: Thanks for listening to Be All You Can, a podcast by Gowthrich Enterprises Group, exploring
11:54: the passion, purpose and dreams of pioneers.
11:57: Stay tuned for more stories that inspire action and impact.
