Godrej Enterprises Group Strengthens India’s Aero Engine Manufacturing Capabilities
Godrej Enterprises Group announced continued expansion of its aerospace business as it strengthens India’s aero engine manufacturing ecosystem through advanced precision engineering, high-value aerospace production capabilities, and long-standing partnerships with leading global aerospace companies. The company stated that it remains the only private sector player in India with the demonstrated capability to manufacture all major modules of an aero engine, reinforcing its role in supporting the country’s vision of self-reliance in aerospace and defence manufacturing under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Established in the 1980s, Godrej’s aerospace business has evolved into a key contributor to both India’s strategic programmes and the global aerospace supply chain. The company currently partners with several leading global aerospace OEMs, including Boeing, Safran Aircraft Engines, GE Aerospace, Rolls Royce, and RTX. These partnerships have been built on consistent execution, precision manufacturing, zero-defect quality standards, and reliable delivery of safety-critical aerospace systems.
The aerospace division has recorded nearly 25% year-on-year growth, while exports have increased by more than 30%, reflecting growing demand for Indian-manufactured aerospace components and systems in global markets. To further accelerate growth, Godrej Enterprises Group has committed investments of approximately ₹100 crore over the next three years. The investment will focus on strengthening capabilities in design, research and development, new product engineering, and advanced digital manufacturing technologies.
The company’s engineering operations are supported by a dedicated research and development centre, including a specialised design office focused on developing mechanical and electromechanical actuation systems for aircraft applications. This capability marks an important transition for the company from traditional build-to-print manufacturing toward design-led, build-to-spec engineering solutions.
As part of its long-term expansion strategy, Godrej is also strengthening manufacturing infrastructure through its new aerospace facility in Khalapur, Maharashtra. Spread across 100 acres and comprising two manufacturing plants, the facility is expected to serve as a major production and capacity expansion hub for advanced aerospace and propulsion-related programmes catering to both Indian and global OEM requirements.
The company highlighted Maharashtra’s strategic advantages, including strong infrastructure, port connectivity, engineering talent availability, and a rapidly growing advanced manufacturing ecosystem, positioning the state as a potential global aerospace manufacturing and supply chain hub.
Commenting on the development, Maneck Behramkamdin, Business Head, Aerospace Business at Godrej Enterprises Group, said the aerospace sector demands deep engineering expertise, uncompromising quality standards, resilient supply chains, and sustained execution capabilities. He added that Godrej’s continued investments in innovation, advanced manufacturing technologies, and talent development position the company strongly to support India’s aero engine ambitions and contribute meaningfully to the global aerospace value chain.
The company also highlighted its indigenous development and manufacturing of critical aerospace systems, including advanced actuators, demonstrating its growing capabilities as a design-led engineering partner delivering integrated aerospace solutions. Since its inception in 1897, Godrej Enterprises Group—including Godrej & Boyce and its affiliates—has played a crucial role in India’s industrial development through engineering excellence, innovation, and sustainable manufacturing. From pioneering the world’s first patented springless lock to introducing India-made typewriters and refrigerators, the company has significantly contributed to key industries such as aerospace, energy, and security.
