Cantilever racking is a specialised storage system designed specifically for long, bulky, or awkwardly shaped items that won't fit into standard pallet racks. Unlike traditional systems that use a "four-post" box design, cantilever racks use a central upright with arms extending outward.
How It Works:
The system functions through a simple, gravity-based structural design:
- The Base: A heavy-duty steel foundation that is bolted to the warehouse floor. It provides the primary stability and often acts as the bottom storage level.
- The Upright: Vertical columns that contain pre-punched holes. These columns are the "spine" of the system.
- The Arms: Horizontal beams that attach to the uprights. They create the actual shelf levels. Because there are no front vertical posts, you can store items of any length across multiple arms.
- Bracing: Cross-members that connect the uprights together to provide lateral stability.
