A clip hinge (also called a clip-on hinge or quick-release hinge) is a type of concealed cabinet hinge that uses a two-piece system to attach the door to the cabinet box. They allow the door to be attached or detached fast, simplifying installation and maintenance.
The clip hinge mechanism relies on two main, interconnected components:
- The Mounting Plate (or Base Plate): This flat plate is screwed securely onto the inside wall (or face frame) of the cabinet box.
- The Hinge Arm: This is the main body of the hinge, which is screwed into the hinge cup hole pre-drilled in the cabinet door.
