A concealed door closer is a mechanical device designed to automatically and securely close a door while remaining entirely hidden within the door leaf, frame, or floor. These units preserve the clean, minimalist aesthetic of modern interiors.
The system operates through a combination of mechanical energy and hydraulic regulation:
- Energy Storage: When you push the door open, an internal heavy-duty spring (housed in a cylinder) compresses, storing the mechanical energy used to open it.
- Controlled Release: Once the door is released, the spring pushes back to its original length. To prevent the door from slamming, the device uses hydraulic damping.
- Hydraulic Regulation: As the door closes, hydraulic fluid is forced through small internal channels. By adjusting the sweep and latch valves, you can fine-tune exactly how fast the door moves through its arc and how firmly it clicks into the frame.
